bienvenidos a quito

Leaving at 1:30 a.m. from mi casa in Wisconsin to begin my adventure to Ecuador!

and 16 hours later....here I am!! This is the cool view from my room looking right out to the Centro de Muchacho Trabajador sign & onto the mountains surrounding us!

We each get our own HUGE rooms & bathroom with a shower built in! Also there is plenty of space in my closet for my Packers gear to hang (:

This is another view from our patio. Pretty pretty, huh?
And this is a blurry picture of a church! haha
It was all that I captured from our excursion to downtown Quito on Sunday. We rode the bus for an hour just to arrive at the main plaza in time for it to downpour. Also most of the vendors were closed since it was a Sunday. We still got to walk around for a while & we got coffee at the cafe so it was a very fun day after all. Good thing we are here for a year so we can go back & do the sight seeing the right way next time (:

  3. Wow, Mere! I kinda thought the view from your room would be of some decrepit village with chickens and other animals walking around! :) Your room is so big! And how nice that you don't have to share a bathroom! I can't wait to hear what you will be doing everyday. Where are some of the other volunteers from? G LYLA says there are only 4 boys and 16 girls in the volunteer group! Keep up the blog...it is great!
